Upon submission of the signup form and completion of payment, our student admissions team will pair you with an instructor that best matches your availability. Your assigned instructor will get in contact with you, and you can then discuss with them how you want to schedule your sessions. Classes are to be conducted via Zoom.

PPL Virtual Ground School Schedule

Class 1: Licensing Req., Aerodynamics & Theory of Flight

Class 2: Stability & Instruments

Class 3: Airframes, Engines & Systems

Class 4: Human Factors & Pilot Decision Making

Class 5: Canadian Aviation Regulations

Class 6: Meteorology I

Class 7: Meteorology II

Class 8: Meteorology III

Class 9: Aircraft Performance

Class 10: Mid-Term Exam & Take-Up

Class 11: Flight Operations (Airspace & Documents)

Class 12: Navigation I: Radio & Electronic Theory

Class 13: Navigation II

Class 14: Navigation III

3-hour Final Exam: To be conducted in-house at Spectrum Airways by appointment only. You can schedule your time via FSP or by phone (905-336-4010). You will be able to review your results with an instructor free of charge as a part of the ground school.

As a Zoom classroom attendee, you have the ability to communicate and ask questions in different ways using the zoom platform which are outlined in the link below:

All students will need to have access to the following items:

1.    From the Ground Up (Book)

2.    AIM (Book or PDF online here)

3.    CARs (Guide book or online here)

4.    Aircraft POH (Book or PDF online)

5.    Toronto VNC/VTA (maps)

6.    E6B, Protractor, aviation ruler (Navigation equipment)

If you do not have these items available, please visit our website and purchase one of our PPL bundles or the individual items you may be missing.

PPL Midterm

The midterm exam is conducted through Zoom using the ‘Polls’ application. Students will have 16 minutes to complete 10 questions online proctored by a Spectrum Airways Flight Instructor. After the 16 minutes run out, another 10 questions will be posted. This will be repeated until all 50 questions from the midterm are complete. You will not be able to progress to the next 10 questions until the proctor recognizes that you are ready to move on. At the conclusion of the midterm, the test will be taken up. Midterm scores are not recorded onto your student file. Scores are simply used to help you gauge the efficacy of your study habits in the first half of the course.

PPL Final Exam

The final exams cannot be done online. Exams must be completed in-person and proctored, as your score is used to determine whether you are eligible for a recommendation letter. You will be required to schedule an appointment to come in and write the 3-hour exam. You can book by calling our dispatcher at 905-336-4010.
