Transport Canada Written Exam (PPL)

Spectrum Airways (Burlington) is an Authorized Transport Canada Examination Invigilator.

Letter of Recommendation – Required

You must have your Letter of Recommendation at least 48 hours before your scheduled exam.
Exams cannot proceed without it.

Booking, Payment & Cancellation Policy

Booking Confirmation:

To confirm your exam appointment:

  • Send a non-refundable e-Transfer of $110 to bmilligan@spectrumairways.com

  • This fee secures your booking and covers Transport Canada and Invigilator administration fees.

Your exam time will be held for 24 hours. If payment is not received within that time, the booking will be automatically cancelled.

Once payment is received, a member of our team will contact you to request the required documents.

Cancellation, Rescheduling & Transfers:

  • A minimum of 48 hours’ notice is required to reschedule booking.

  • The $110 e-Transfer is non-refundable.

  • With at least 48 hours’ notice, the $110 payment may be transferred to a new exam date, subject to availability.

  • Requests made with less than 48 hours’ notice are not eligible for transfer or refund.

Exam Supervision Fee (Payable On-Site):

An Exam Supervision Fee is payable at the front desk on the day of your exam:

  • $35 – Spectrum Airways students

  • $50 – Non-students

Accepted payment methods: Visa, MasterCard, Interac, or Cash

Required Documents:

Please ensure the following documents are prepared in advance of your exam date:

  • Letter of Recommendation:

  • Original copy

  • Issued within the last 60 days

  • Signed by a Certified Flight Instructor

  • Confirms you are prepared to write the exam

  • Valid Government-Issued Photo ID:

  • Driver’s licence or passport

  • Aviation Medical Certificate

  • Appropriate category for the licence or permit being written

  • Proof of Flight Experience (if applicable)

  • Logbook or Pilot Training Record (PTR)

What to Bring on Exam Day:

  • Non-programmable aviation calculator (e.g. CX-3, E6B)

  • Navigation ruler and protractor

⚠️ Unauthorized notes, electronic devices, or programmable calculators are not permitted during the exam.

Total Fees:

  • Spectrum Airways enrolled students: $145 ($110 e-transfer + $35 exam fee)

  • Non-enrolled students: $160 ($110 e-transfer + $50 exam fee)
